prosthodontic treatments are not the same as a typical dental check-up.
To ensure we can structurally solve your dental challenge for the long term, we spend considerable time analysing your teeth and planning your treatment.
OUR PROCESS.
Initial Consultation
Here we complete a comprehensive dental examination, review of your dental history, goals, explore lifestyle and diet information related to your dental health. Preliminary discussion will take place on clinical findings and diagnoses, various treatment options, timing and costs.
Diagnostic Data Collection
While this may be completed as part of the consultation, we usually complete a separate thorough process to collect more detailed diagnostic information (i.e. clinical photographs, dental xrays and scans), in order to understand your dental presentation, from root canal to bone support. In complex cases, we may perform diagnostic modelling to allow better visualisation of your proposed treatment plan.
Treatment Presentation
Using the information from the previous two appointments, we spend considerable time developing a treatment plan specific for you, which we present to you in this last appointment – tailored to your timeline and budget.
Staged treatment
and Financial Options.
Staged Treatment
We know that treatment costs can be a concern for many patients, and we understand the financial strain it may cause. Our prosthodontists understand the science behind various dental materials and techniques, each with different costs, aesthetics, strength, and durability. Depending on your dental problems and expectations, a treatment plan will fully customised and staged to your needs – fitting into your schedule and budget. This way, your immediate dental concerns are addressed without losing sight of your long term goals.
Interest Free Financial Payment Plans
We provide financial payment options, such as HUMM and ZIP, to accommodate those in need of payment plans. These plans can be extended over 60 months, offering the convenience of weekly, fortnightly, or monthly payments.
Insurance Rebate
Most private health insurance providers cover prosthodontic treatment, and the reimbursement amount will depend on your policy level. Given complex prosthodontic treatment plan have multiple stages, we will liaise with your insurance provider for rebate quotations and provide you with a clear understanding of your out-of-pocket expenses before dental treatment. With our assistance, this ensures a peace of mind and alleviates unnecessary stress and confusion. After each dental appointment, our reception staff will also electronically process your private health insurance rebate, streamlining the claims process for your convenience.
Early Release of Superannuation
If you are facing dental treatment costs and experiencing chronic/acute pain or debilitating conditions, you may apply and be eligible for the early release of superannuation under compassionate grounds. This process requires certification from dental specialists, such as prosthodontists if deemed suitable and necessary.
Department of Veteran Affair’s Scheme
At Centre for Prosthodontics, we extend our dental services to veterans. The Department of Veteran Affairs Scheme covers all dental services, as per DVA arrangements, essential to address clinical needs for Gold Card holders. Limitations apply for White Card holders, as dental treatment is available only in connection to accepted disabilities.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do I need a referral to visit the centre for prosthodontics?
Yes, a referral from your dentist is needed before booking an appointment with our team.
What’s the difference between a prosthodontist and a dentist?
Prosthodontists have undertaken an extra 3 years full time study in addition to formal dentistry training and are equipped with a variety of advanced techniques and skills to structurally solve complex dental issues.
How do I know if my problem requires a specialist prosthodontist?
We recommend seeing your dentist before commencing any dental work – they may refer you to a Prosthodontist depending on their skill level and the complexity of the work required.
How many appointments will I need?
This depends on the complexity required to solve your problem. Typically we will complete a minimum of two appointments before undertaking any work. In the first we understand your issue and discuss your goals and options. During this appointment we may also run some simple tests to help inform our planning. We then develop a treatment plan, which we will discuss with you in your second appointment. This will include details of all subsequent appointments you will require, and details of the costs involved.
How do I know what treatment I need?
You won’t know until we have completed a treatment plan. Your plan may contain one, or a combination of treatment options to solve your problem. Given everyone’s teeth and facial structure, and problems, are different, there is no way to confidently recommend one treatment before undertaking a thorough analysis.
How much will my treatment cost?
Until we have a full plan in place we unfortunately cannot give cost estimates, as all our work is completed bespoke for each patient. However, all costs associated with your treatment are provided in detail before any work begins.
