Prosthodontics Explained.
Prosthodontists are highly trained dental specialists who solve complex cases requiring full mouth Rehabilitations, Dental Implants or advanced treatments like Crowns, Bridgework and Veneers.
Prosthodontists are often considered “the Architects” of the dental treatment plan, who regularly lead teams of general dentists, dental specialists and other allied health professionals in developing treatment solutions for your specific dental needs.
what is the difference
between a prosthodontist & a dentist?
Prosthodontists spend a minimum of 3 years studying all aspects of facial biomechanics, material science and advanced dental techniques, in addition to a 3 year general dentistry qualification.
This advanced training and knowledge allows a Prosthodontist to solve complex issues that may be outside the expertise of referring dentists. The relationship is the same as between a medical doctor and specialist like a cardiologist.
While Prosthodontists complete specialist treatments, your overall dental health is managed by your dentist.
do i need a referral?
No, you do not need a referral to see one of our Prosthodontists, however we do recommend seeing your dentist before making an appointment. Throughout your treatment we will stay in regular contact with your dentist to ensure continuity of care across your dental health team.
