Meet Your Speakers:
Professor Bjarni E. Pjetursson received his DDS from the University of Iceland in 1990 and completed advanced studies in Periodontology, Implant Dentistry, and Prosthodontics at the University of Bern, Switzerland. He earned his PhD from the University of Iceland in 2014. Dr. Pjetursson is currently a Professor and Chairman at the University of Iceland, with a Titular professorship at the University of Geneva. He is an ITI Fellow, EAO member, and editorial board member of Clinical Oral Implants Research. His research focuses on clinical studies in prosthetic- and implant dentistry, especially systematic reviews and meta-analysis. He is also passionate about horse breeding.
Associate Professor KristÃn Heimisdóttir, is a certified orthodontist with a distinguished career in both academia and clinical practice. She is the President of the Icelandic Orthodontic Society and Head of the Orthodontic Department at the University of Iceland. Dr. Heimisdóttir completed her postgraduate training in Orthodontics at the University of Bern, Switzerland, and is board-certified in both Switzerland and Iceland. She is also the CEO of the Icelandic Public Health Fund and runs a private orthodontic practice in Reykjavik. An active researcher and lecturer, her work focuses on orthodontics, dental implants, and treatment advancements. Outside of dentistry, she enjoys hiking, horses, and skiing.
