Details
The first ITI event for 2022 will be on ‘New Classification and Concepts on Implant Placement and Loading Protocols’, presented by Dr Adam Hamilton, on the 4th of May, 2022. Implant placement protocols have been extensively researched and reviewed in an effort to determine the most efficient and predictable pathway for implant therapy following tooth extraction. The timing of implant placement is directly linked to the physiological process of wound healing and ridge alternations which follow tooth extraction. Implant loading protocols have similarly been evaluated to determine the safest time for restoring implants and providing occlusal loading. The osseointegration process and concepts related to primary and secondary implant stability are also dictated by physiological processes similar to those that dictate implant placement. Despite the connection, the relationship between implant placement and loading protocols has never been evaluated. |
This lecture will discuss the evolution of implant placement and loading protocols. It will introduce a new classification which redefines the concepts of implant placement and loading protocols, recognising that the two processes are co-dependent variables of one another. The classification will be presented along with a clinical and evidence based approach to the advantages and disadvantages of both implant placement and loading protocols. CPD: 2.5 hours. |
This seminar is part of our 24 month Prosthodontic Mini Residency Certificate Program, though you don't have to be enrolled in the program to register. |

Cosmetic dentistry is one the fastest-growing field in the dental industry. It primarily focuses on the improvement of dental aesthetics by creating a brighter overall smile, hence often associated with ceramic or porcelain veneers. Thanks to technology, such as 3D printing, digital smile design, and innovations in veneers, cosmetic dentistry is expected to remain a popular request by patients. |
An effective and efficient structure is required during the Initial Treatment-Planning process, which could potentially lead to exquisitely beautiful results with minimal tooth preparation and no negative side effect. While it could easily become a destructive, unforeseeable, and often unsuccessful procedure if the dentist is not confident. |

Synopsis: The ability to recreate an ideal peri-implant mucosal architecture to replicate the gingivae of a natural tooth is critical for attaining an aesthetic outcome in implant dentistry. This largely involves correct surgical planning and techniques to compensate for soft and hard tissue loss following tooth extraction. However, soft tissue aesthetics in implant dentistry can also be largely influenced through prosthodontic techniques during the fabrication and design of provisional and definitive implant restorations. This lecture will review the literature and clinical realities on how the restorative dentist can modify soft tissue aesthetics. |

Is Complete Dentures Still Relevant in a World Ruled by Dental Implants? |
Although dental implant treatment options for edentulous patients are plenty, research has shown that less than 20% of patients received implant treatment of edentulous mandibles. Major reasons for patient declining implant treatment were the financial costs, the need for surgery, and phobia of pain. |
Conventional complete dentures continue being one of the most common and traditional prosthodontic treatment options for edentulous patients. For patients who cannot or will not accept implants treatment, properly designed, and executed removable dentures can be the treatment of choice for many patients. As a result, it is important for a clinician to be familiar with all the treatment alternatives and educate patients on its advantages, disadvantages. |
This seminar is ideal for those who are looking to improve clinical success in treating complete dentures patients. Dr Hezel Cohen will highlight the knowledge and skills you need to assess, treatment plan and treat patients requiring complete dentures. |

Implant treatment has continued to provide a promising alternative for many patients with a reduced dentition. With high biological and financial costs, many patients expect a functional and aesthetic result that lasts, but for some, implant complications have become a disappointing reality. Doubts were cast on whether dental implants being a Panacea, or instead we should better strive to save teeth. |
In this seminar, we will showcase various implant complications and discuss how they could have been avoided and how they will now need to be managed. |
