Our process for Ceramic (Porcelain) Veneers.

You get a smile designed for you.

We first diagnose all your cosmetic concerns to identify the specific areas that will achieve your goals, such as the proportion of your tooth display and smile in relation to your gums, most appropriate colour, and shape.

You design your smile with our Prosthodontists.

After discussing your goals and options in detail, we create a physical cast, or digital smile design using photos of you, so you can see exactly what you’ll look like – before and after – and offer your input for adjustments before committing to any procedures.

You trial your Veneers before committing.

While your permanent Veneers are being made, temporary Veneers reflecting the proposed change will be cemented, allowing you the opportunity to experience the proposed treatment outcome. Your feedback is of paramount importance to contribute to further desired refinements.

You get handmade Veneers bespoke for you.

With reference to impressions of your prepared tooth surface, the temporary Veneers reflecting your agreed smile, clinical photographs, and physical and digital analysis of tooth colour, the master dental technician will construct your final Ceramic (Porcelain) Veneers. All our Ceramic and Porcelain Veneers are made with the highest strength and aesthetic materials by the best laboratories in Australia.

You get strength and durability, as well as beauty.

Strength and durability of Veneers are dependent on tooth preparation design, Ceramic (Porcelain) material science, adhesive resin bonding techniques and bite control. Having expertly planned and executed all the earlier steps, your new Veneers are meticulously attached to your teeth by our Prosthodontist using adhesive resin bonding techniques to harness the strength of your tooth and improve overall durability. Now you’re ready to enjoy the confidence of your new smile.

About Ceramic (Porcelain) Veneers.

Veneers are thin Ceramic (Porcelain) coverings that are bonded onto a tooth’s surface to correct a wide range of cosmetic and structural flaws. From a technical point of view, it is a sensitive procedure, requiring a comprehensive understanding of tooth preparation design, Ceramic (Porcelain) material science, meticulous laboratory construction and adhesive bonding techniques, in order to be completed to a high standard. When this advanced expertise is applied, the result will not only be aesthetically pleasing, but the Veneers will last significantly longer and require less maintenance.

Frequently asked questions about Ceramic (Porcelain) Veneers

What problems do Ceramic (Porcelain) veneers solve?

Veneers are a popular treatment to correct a range of dental problems, including but not limited to, remedying discoloured, poorly shaped, chipped, crooked and unevenly spaced teeth.

Can anyone get Ceramic or Porcelain veneers?

Ceramic or Porcelain Veneers may not be the best treatment for everyone, which is why we start with a comprehensive assessment of your teeth to determine whether a Veneer treatment is suitable for you. In some cases, composite fillings for minor modifications, tooth whitening or orthodontic treatment (braces) may be all that you need, and the application of a Veneer placement would be over treatment. Where teeth are severely damaged or worn, other treatment options like Ceramic Crowns or Dental Bridges may be required.

How long do Ceramic (Porcelain) veneers last?

Despite using only the best techniques and highest quality materials, the longevity of your Veneers depends in large part on how well you look after them. Like any dental restorations, Veneers may become worn and damaged with extended use and time. Dislodgment, wear and minor chipping may happen when Veneers are subjected to tooth grinding or biting into extremely hard objects. With good oral hygiene, control of bite forces (including the use of an anti-clench/grinding splint if required) and regular dental checks, your Veneers can last for decades. As part of our service, we may discuss lifestyle changes that should be considered to increase the life of your treatment.

Do I need a Prosthodontist to complete my Ceramic (Porcelain) veneers?

While many general dentists will offer Veneer treatment to their patients, there are complex situations when referral to Prosthodontists should be considered. In addition to general dentist qualifications, Prosthodontists have undertaken a minimum of 3 years full-time specialist dental training; the only specialty which focuses on dentofacial aesthetics and smile analysis in relation to Veneer treatment. With over 90 years of combined dental experience and specialised dental training from US, UK, Australia and South Africa, our team can provide simple to complex Veneer treatment and manage those with high aesthetic and functional needs and expectations. To the best of our ability, we will ensure the long term success of your Veneer treatment with as few future complications as possible.

Do I need a referral to visit the Centre for Prosthodontics?
No, you do not, however we do recommend seeing your dentist before booking an appointment with our team.
